Silent Film Scores

Silent films were never silent. From 1895-1929 films had no synchronized scores but there were were three phases: 1895-1905 was the early phase and determined by the venue which were vaudeville theaters and part of a vaudeville act, so the music would be adapted to the situation ; 1905-1915 was the nickelodeon phase and was a transitional period. in storefront theaters where the sound was first institutionalized as a practice; 1915-1929 was the mature period and also the picture palace phase in large theater halls.
